About me

As a counsellor for both a mental health organisation and a mental health charity as well as having my own private practice, I understand how emotional difficulties can affect every aspect of your life; your relationships, your work and the way you feel about yourself. It can lead to anxiety, depression, feelings of loss or irritability and a general dissatisfaction with life.

I am aware the thought of meeting with a counsellor or therapist can be daunting. You might be worried that your problems are not serious enough or can find no obvious reason to explain why you feel this way. Or you may have a clear idea of why you are struggling but having this knowledge has not prevented you from suffering or behaving in ways which you find unhelpful but keep repeating.

My role is to provide a confidential, safe and secure space to help you explore these difficulties and so gain a greater understanding of the underlying causes. This can provide a sense of relief, enable changes to be made and give you a greater sense of control over your life. Our work together will aim to give you a better understanding of you as a resource and that you are able to support yourself after our work has finished, giving you more confidence to tackle and deal with things in life in a way which is right for you.

I have experience of working both short and long term. I have worked in GP surgeries and I work for the mental health organisation MIND. I have been qualified for over 5 years. Until recently I also worked as a co-leader on a Certificate in Counselling skills course at a Chelmsford based counselling training center.
